AMTA Teacher of the Year
2012 Teacher of the Year Award by the American Massage Therapy Association!
The American Massage Therapy Association announced David Lauterstein as the recipient of the 2012 Jerome Perlinski Teacher of the Year award. Each year, AMTA presents this award to an instructor in a member school who demonstrates exceptional teaching abilities and commitment to the highest standards of education in massage therapy. He will be honored at the National AMTA Convention this October in Raleigh, North Carolina.
David Lauterstein has practiced massage therapy since 1977 – sharing his skills and knowledge with others throughout the U.S. and world. His dedication is evident through his massage school, the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin, Texas that he co-founded with John Conway in 1989, which was awarded as the U.S. School of the Year at the World Massage Festival in 2009.
Mr. Lauterstein is the author of three books: Life in the Bones, Putting the Soul Back in the Body, The Deep Massage Book, hundreds of articles , and is the composer of the CD for massage, Roots and Branches. In 2011 he was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame. He continues to teach at Lauterstein-Conway Massage School as well as in workshops throughout the U.S. and the U.K. He specializes in teaching the advanced modalities, Deep Massage: The Lauterstein Method and Zero Balancing.
With a prior background in music composition, Mr. Lauterstein is recognized for being the most prominent international spokesperson for massage being both an art and a science.
