Massage Job Fair: Massage Therapy & Chiropractics

Are you considering working with a chiropractor? Have you been referred a client from one? How many of your massage clients also see chiropractors? Because the massage and chiropractic industries often overlap, at the 2010 Massage Job Fair TLCschool hopes to help interested LMTs learn more about what it’s like to work with chiropractors.

This year’s job fair theme is massage therapy and chiropractics. Lauterstein-Conway Massage School is proud to present guest speakers Kevin Kanz, DC, and Deborah Herriage, LMT.

Chiropractic Speaker: Dr. Kevin Kanz, Chiropractor

Dr. Kevin Kanz is a 1988 graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas.  He has practiced in Central Austin and the West Campus area for over 20 years as the director of University Chiropractic Center.  He attended Tulane University and the University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing as an Undergraduate.

He was named the 1999 Texas Young Chiropractor of the Year and has received multiple President’s and Director’s Awards of Merit by the Texas Chiropractic Association.  He has served on the American Chiropractic Association’s board of delegates and currently serves as President of the Texas Chiropractic Association.

He is a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors and has extensive post-graduate training in sports medicine, manual medicine, rehabilitation and human performance assessment.  Dr. Kanz is fellowship and residency trained in sports rehabilitation, functional biomechanics and manual medicine through the FICS and the Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Science in the Russian Federation.

Massage Therapist Speaker: Deborah Herriage, LMT

Deborah graduated from TLCschool with 500 hours of massage therapy training and went on to complete massage continuing education courses in Thai Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Zero Balancing I, Medical Massage and Insurance Billing, and Prenatal Massage.

Deborah practiced yoga for 30 years and completed teacher certification at 200 hour level with YogaYoga in Austin, Texas and has taught yoga for over 2000 hours. She incorporates yoga skills in educating clients on stretching, rehabilitation movement and basic postural alignment skills.

Interested in the therapeutic aspects of massage, Deborah has worked with chiropractors for over a year and a half, most recently for Dr. Mo at Chirofit Wellness Center in Cedar Park. She has also maintain a private massage practice with two locations, one in Cedar Park and one in Bee Creek area.
