Ways We Are Keeping You Safe

Health, hygiene, and sanitation have always been a priority at TLC, and we have doubled our efforts to keep our students, clients, and staff safe. In addition to our standard operating procedures, we implemented new protocols for pre- and post- massage sessions for classroom and clinic procedures. All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each use.

TLC Mask Policy is based on recommendations from Austin Public Health (APH) and the infection levels posted through state/local tracking tools. As such, masking levels are subject to change at TLC’s discretion. Students, faculty, staff, and guests are required to comply with the following when applicable:

  • Low – Masks optional
  • Medium – Masks strongly recommended, but optional
  • High – Masks mandatory

Personal Protective Equipment

TLC will provide personal protective equipment (PPEs) for all students, faculty, staff, and clients at the entrances for your convenience. Each classroom has two “Clean Stations” consisting of: wall mounted protective glove boxes, wall mounted mask boxes, wall mounted hand sanitizers, and shelf mounted cleaning products with 90/10 alcohol solution.

Infection Prevention

Our classrooms and clinic are cleaned and disinfected rigorously through out the day. We have a full-time cleaning service that will be will be cleaning & disinfecting between all classes and massage sessions.  Additionally, the Center for Disease Control currently recommends cleaning and disinfecting with a concentration of at least 70% isopropyl alcohol. TLC will be using a 90% solution to more thoroughly kill pathogens on all surfaces.

Air Quality

We have placed two air purifiers for each classroom, the clinic, lobby, and offices. One is for use during the day, as it is specially designed for multiple kinds of airborne pathogens (including viruses). These air purifiers are made to clean areas of over 1600 sq. ft., much larger spaces than we have them in. Overnight, from 12am - 5am, we will utilize the second air purifier, and Ionic/Ozone air cleaner. This should address any lingering airborne pathogens that the other filtration systems may have not reached.

Health Screening

Before coming on campus or to the clinic,  students, staff and clients should take their own temperature to ensure they are not presenting with any COVID19-related symptoms or any other contagious conditions. Prior to entering the classroom all students will have their temperature taken by the Massage Therapy Instructor on duty. Prior to massage sessions clients will have their temperatures taken by their therapist. Anyone presenting a fever (99.6+) will not be allowed to participate in class or clinic.

Reduced Class Size & Clinic Appointments

In an effort to manage and minimize risk, TLC has chosen to reduce the amount of students allowed per classroom.  The student lounge and Private Training rooms are also currently closed to deter congregating on campus when students are not in class. Clinic appointment availability has been reduced by over 50% and the lobby has been re-arranged to support social distancing practices. Throughout the building, any non-essential furniture has been temporarily removed to allow for proper cleaning and disinfection.

Separate Entrances

In order to manage foot traffic and minimize clustering, students, staff and clients will be required to enter the building through assigned entrances. Clinic clients will utilize the main entrance to the lobby. Students will use the assigned entrance that corresponds with their classroom location. Staff will use the Staff Only entrance to the Administration Offices.

Hand Washing and Sanitation

Upon arrival, students, staff and clients should wash their hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds and/or utilize the hand sanitizer provided. Follow these 5 steps from the CDC:

  1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
  2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
  4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
  5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
