Workshop Description

In this mostly hands-on training, you will learn several dozen assessment tests, friction therapy, myofascial and deep tissue techniques to address pain and injury in some of the most commonly injured structures in the neck, shoulder, low back and knee. You will also understand the anatomy of these structures as never before through physically locating and palpating each muscle, tendon, and ligament targeted with these techniques. The assessment testing procedure are from the work of Dr. James Cyriax.

Participants learn detailed anatomy palpation, as well as assessment testing, friction therapy, myofascial and massage techniques designed to help in the healing of injuries to the neck, shoulder, low back and knee.

1: Neck and Shoulder Anatomy with palpation of all structures
Learning Objective: Students will be able to identify and palpate all of the major superficial ligaments of the neck and the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons.

2: Low Back and Knee Anatomy with palpation of all structures
Learning Objective: Students will be able to identify and palpate all of the sacroiliac and iliolumbar ligaments in the lumbar spine.

3: Neck, Shoulder, Low Back, Knee Assessment Testing

5: Myofascial Techniques Neck, Shoulder, Low Back, Knee
Learning Objective: Students will learn myofascial techniques for working on the fascial covering of superficial ligaments of the neck, infraspinatus and supraspinatus tendons of the shoulder, sacroiliac and iliolumbar ligaments of the lumbar spine as well as the collateral ligaments of the knee.
