Workshop Description:

Explore a new innovative approach for manually treating the Vagus Nerve and Autonomic Nervous System. Learn the functional importance of the ANS, along with Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and its relevance to mind-body health.  Discover a new system with three complementary divisions arranged for their functions for adaptation, survival, homeostasis, and personal development, and conscious evolution.

In this workshop, you will gain a better understanding of:

  • The Polyvagal Theory (PVT)
  • The 3 branches of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)
  • The 5 Cranial Nerves comprising the Social Engagement System
  • How to determine the client’s heart-rate variability status

Understand how to appropriately address:

  • Spinal Tension
  • Cranial Nerve Mobilization
  • Visceral Manipulation
  • Auricular Therapy Techniques
  • Neural Exercises (or lessons) relevant to the successful treatment of the ANS

Older and dualistic concepts of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems hold that they operate in opposing ways, in addition to omitting the newly recognized and crucial social engagement system. Considering that the American Medical Association has recently announced that 80% of illness, pain and disease are caused by disturbances in the ANS, this is a critical omission.
